I did a google image search on them. All the stolen ones are older. No newer designs. So start at the back of your portfolio.

Thanks! I'll get on these. So far we only had like 3-4 cases and every time the offender took down the logos.

The ones on Facebook and Blogger will be taken down as the services will cooperate. The tattoo site is going to be more difficult. It seems like they steal images from everywhere and the tattoo business is not as strict as other areas of visual arts.

Since I already have the extension for Google Chrome, it's hard to tell exactly how to get it. Try starting here http://www.google.com/insidesearch/searchbyimage.html

Once you have the extension you can simply right click on any image and select "Search Google with this image" and it will do a comparison search to find similar images.

You can also get the same for Tineye - but I don't like it as much.

I appreciate all of your help getting my stolen logos removed from Facebook. Today I checked the Facebook page that was using my Liontari Financial logo http://stocklogos.com/logo/liontari-financial illegally. This logo was removed by Facebook for a few days, however today this person or company has placed my logo backup on their Facebook page after Facebook removed it. They also now have a link on Facebook to their website that contains my stolen logo.

Melanie, re-fill the DMCA form at Facebook, and tell them about the fact that the page owner has re-uploaded the logo after it was taken down by facebook. That should be enough to close their FB page entirely. As for the company's website, try to search in the domain's WHOIS information for a link to the website's hosting provider. Generally, hosting companies have strict rules about copyright infringement, and they may take down the website of the company that uses your logotype. But before doing that, you should contact the company directly and tell then that you will take legal action if they don't either buy the rights to use the logo from you, of delete the logo from their website and renounce to use it in any other way. If they fail to respond, you're then free to contact the hosting company, and take legal action. Ivan (the admin) may have very helpful advices in this regard, contact him.

Thanks again for your help, I re-filled the DMCA form at Facebook and notified them of the repeat violation. I'll work on an email and send it to the two companies that are using my logos without purchase.

I didn't know that host companies can take down websites for those persons/companies violating copyright. I'll look into contacting them, if I don't get a response back from the companies involved.

From there you can fill an automated DMCA form with URLs leading to your work and also screenshots of their page and the logo's page here on stocklogos (http://www.facebook.com/legal/copyright.php?copyright_notice=1), this is the fastest way to report copyright infringements on Facebook.

Melanie, it seems that site (s-blasic.com) belongs to this user: http://stocklogos.com/user/siny.
All the logos that are offered for sale are from that user's gallery.

Some logos - including yours - have been placed there only to showcase the types of logos which can be designed. It's implied above the logos in question that they have been taken from internet.

So they're not actually stolen, but serve as an example. It's a bad idea, nonetheless.

But they ARE watermarked. You can usually tell the stolen ones by how low-quality the resolution is. Somebody took the trouble to go in an delete the pattern in the background.

We do have watermarks as you know. It's a delicate balance, because we want to discourage cheating, but we want to sell and too much watermarking is disturbing for real clients.

I'm talking about Windows "print screen" option, that I guess most people would use and then crop the image in paint or similar aplication. Not many would go trough trouble of finding tool's like Corel capture just to download the image. I'm not saying it would solve the whole problem, but it would greatly reduce it.

Printscreen is simply copying the entire monitor view into the buffer, at 72 dpi (the standard resolution). Any screen capture software (including Corel capture) does exactly the same, with the additional possibility to select a specific area, and to save the captured image to a file.
Printscreen is the same as capture. Same resolution, same colors. No difference.

We know but a lot of people are not aware of that but are well aware of the right click. I think it would help still. I think there is no way of actually preventing it and we should all be on the look out for stolen logos.

It would deter a small percentage of the cheaters, but on the downside it will cause issues to a small percentage of clients too. Image search engines will not like it either, like google images.

It's there so you won't have to change it manually in case you want to print a screenshot of a website at 300 dpi. Of course the quality won't be that good, but it's acceptable since there is no other way to do it.

I do believe that logo on Brandstack was posted before your was. Can't remember when exactly, but it certainly predates yours. It's not uncommon for designers to get the same idea for a logo.

Im not sure if anyone brought this up but if your design is being used in a foreign country I'm not sure if your legally covered. I live in Japan but am from the US and Ive seen famous brands from American companies used here. And Im not sure but I believe when you file for those types of legal protections that they don't usually extend worldwide.

Yeah, Facebook acted quite promptly with Applex's stolen logo. In the meantime, make lots of posts on the page. The user will more than likely delete them. But one other thing to do is 'share' the page with a comment about the stolen design. The page creator cannot touch these, and the word gets out quite quickly.

That site doesn't like people posting links to anyone selling anything that isn't one of their sponsors. However, people can see where an image came from, and go to the source site. I would have put one of mine up, but, knowing that crowd, I figured they would like yours better.

They must link the logos to the original site (stocklogos.com). Also, they have cropped and put the logos on a different background (they removed the watermark), so this can be interpreted as theft since they have used and transformed something that doesn't belong to them.

Ivan, could you write them on behalf of stocklogos.com and take the logos images down?

It is a link farm (see wikipedia). I'm surprised Google has indexed over one million of individual pages from picsbox.biz. So, these are basically categorized random images with a title and a "related searches" link which of course points to other link farms from the same spammer. In short, they are spamming Google's index.

Almir C, if you report them to Google, they might take them out of their index but it would be very hard to take this page completely down. By the way, the domain was purchased in Australia, maybe you can try and track the owner...

By creating a logo and making it public you automatically own it and have copyright on it. As far as I remember in every case the logos have been removed from the offending sites after notification.

Actually, there is a lot of ambiguity concerning this one...

a) That particular Serbo-Croatian website was created at most on November 2nd 2009 (according to Google)

c) This same logo was available on BrandStack, by a user name clickgraf: http://brandstack.com/users/profile/clickgraf (but he only joined in Jan 2011)

At least they have a "report this logo" link, the one that says 我要挑错 认领 补充 此作品

That link will take you to a form where you can report an "error" type (错误类型) on a list/menu:
1.- Logo name contains errors (标志设计作品名、内容错误)
2.- Author and design work do not match (作品与设计作品作者不符)
3.- This logo infringes my copyright (此标志设计作品是我设计有我认领)
4.- I want to add designer specifications (我要补充设计说明)
5.- Date or other content error (事实年代以及内容错误)
6.- Other (其他)

In that form there are two text areas. The first (错误内容) is for "error specifics" and the second one (修正建议) is for "proposed amendments". The Submit button is the one on the left (提交), the other one is a reset button.

I hope this helps even if it is loosely translated.

They're hotlinking. It seems to be a bot site, aimed at making money from getting ads clicked. It just picks up content and displays it. You could mess them up by changing your image.

it won't help for one simple reason: the stolen logos are redrawn, that means you will never find your copyright notice in a logotype's file on an infringing website.

I didn't mean anything suspicious. I was just pretty sure I had seen the logos on here before and was wondering if you had changed your screen name or something. Or maybe I'm just having some weird dejá vu.

Yes, I had uploaded my logos here some while ago, but then took them out as I placed them on another logo selling site and I weren't aware that it's legal to have them on both sites at the same time.
Haven't changed my screen name as I haven't even deleted my account at any time.
It's OK. I guess I have a weird last name for foreigners. ;D

I hope I'll get that logo taken down as well. Haven't been in this situation before though.

If we could email each other I would have sent a note. But, since putting a message on the logo's page would have been kind of tacky, this thread is the only real way of notifying the designer.

I feel kind of sorry for the restaurant. My guess is that they paid somebody for the logo in good faith and now they have a web site and a bunch of printed material with a copyright violation on it.

You have a good point Rockadero, so I made a little investigation and it turns out that the restaurant definitely infringed designerD's rights.

The earliest version of this logo was uploaded to Logopond over 11 months ago, on April 20th, 2011. Notice the rhomboidal scales and Cyrillic characters.

On August 12th, 2011, the same designer uploaded a slightly modified version here on StockLogos. Notice the smaller circular scales.

Like AKMulligan reported, the second Akoya restaurant just opened last week in Connecticut. The restaurant website illegally uses a modified version of the original rhomboidal scales logo. The http://www.akoyact.com domain was created two months ago, on Jan 31st 2012, but it seems that the website content was created on March 9th, 2012.

By the way, the original Akoya restaurant was opened several years ago in Dickson, Tennessee. The http://www.akoyatn.com domain was created on Jul 14th 2010. But it seems that they don't use the fish logo.

So, just by looking at these dates above, it is clear to see who is infringing who's rights.

Ivan, you should contact the Connecticut restaurant and/or the designer.

It does need investigation. I'm not saying it's not original by the designer here but another designer could have been picked to design their logo and had it in their own collection, then put it forward, now the restaurant uses it.

They are using your http://stocklogos.com/logo/hub-4 logo. It's some sort of Czech school where kids get to learn different extra-scholar activities. They are located in Kunratice, CZ. You should contact them, I can translate you mail to Czech if you want.

Ivan, this and other cases make me think that there should be a copyright note on every logo page, maybe even underneath the logo itself. Something like "©2011, Applex. All Rights Reserved". I know it might not make a difference, but it might be a little dissuasive for those who copy without buying... What do you think?

The trouble with that is the people who steal logo's will have the copyright on the ones they've stolen. Double Trouble.

The only defence is strict administration. Reverse image searching, immediate banning for offenders and double the investigation effort for any logo's deemed good enough for the Staff Favorites.
