Double margins on PNG files??

Jon Askill Sat, 08/11/2012 - 16:37

I've just noticed after posting a contest logo (annoyingly to a blind contest, so can't show you), anyway, that the margins seem to be doubled.

I obviously use the stocklogos template for all logos, with the border/margin around the edge and output the PNG from that. When I see the logo on the main logo preview, there seems to be another invisible border area which has appeared, which isn't part of the PNG file.

This has never happened before, and wondered if it's a new thing or I don't know what.

It's not the artwork, as the preview is simply not the same as the original PNG.

Any ideas? thanks.

This is to give the logos more "white space"; this is done to all logos according to the new standard (after the recent revamp). The StockLogos script adds an extra 24 pixels on all sides of the preview (for a total of 400x400 pixels). This is more apparent on the logos with a non-transparent background.

White space is good; it lets your design breath.

The reason of the margin in the template and the rule that ask us to respect said margin is so that the Admin can modify the standard if needed and he could add more white space on all logos automatically (while still keeping the white space consistent across all logos).

Hope this helps,

Spintherism.

Wow, you learn something everyday. It's fine as long as I didn't screw up the artwork, I just couldn't understand what was happening as I'd checked and checked again.

Cheers Spintherism as always, for the comprehensive answer!! ;)

Yes, we have this extra space since the redesign.
