Hi all.
Just need a bit of input here hopefully from molumen or xbluevision who in my opinion are corel draw wizzes :)
I have inserted some images of a logo which admin says has imbedded images but all i did was add a standard 2 colour gradient, now sometimes this happens and gets rejected and other times a logo with the SAME gradient gets published?? I am confused to say the least!
Here you will see a very fast breakdown that went into creating a simple logo "Riverpath".
I mean as logo's go its very simple, no effects only a 2 colour gradient and i get this message.
"The eps file contains embedded images. Please save it as vectors only. Thanks"
now this happens with almost every logo, then i email Ivan, he apologises and it gets published, and recently he emailed me again saying wait the logo is actually still not right AFTER publishing it?
Now im not biting anyone here i am just confused, i can understand from Ivans side as i have seen what he is talking about and he has shown me personally how Illustrator picks up my simple gradient as a bitmap, I would just like to know from the top guys how they avoid this esp[ecially as I feel i am doing nothing wrong??
Maybe you can pick up from my screenshots of exporting as eps if i am doing something wrong.
I am horrible confused, and the same thing happens when i add simple transparency.
PLEASE BRING IN PDF'S! ---------------SIGH
here are links to the screen shots as i dont know how to add more than 1 image lol

Please help us find the solution!
I can see wath your problem is, if you have illustrator CS5 by any chance, you can "save as" that document as "CorelDraw 10" , then open that document in Illustrator an from there save as as" Illustrator eps", that would solve the problem at least for now.
is there no other solution within corel, you say you can see the problem, well what is the problem?? LOL
The problem is that you have problem :P :P :P :P I am working also on this. I was using corel too.
you serious? lol
I worked on this problem.
I also read various forums.
The conclusion is an incompatibility of formats. :((((
corel eps is not the same as Illustrator EPS.
My advice: Save the file to ".ai" and uses online tools to convert.....

I also experienced it,,,
and for the solution is above the link,
or convert with http://filespazz.com/
I had a problem in coreldaraw x5
size changes after the export to eps

after :

what is the problem ?
Purchase illustrator?
graphic design is not limited to "illustrator" and neither should this site be!!
True, the problem is real, I use both (corel 5) and Illustrators cs3. I do the gradients in Illustrator to avoid this problem, solution: (do not color in coreldraw) store as (ai) and colored in illustrator then save as (eps) and (png). A little complex but it is a solution.
In Corel, open your gradient property window. (in the gradient view docker, click "advanced")
If you look carefully, you will see a little padlock image next to "steps".
Unlock that.
My suggestion is that if you're going to really get into creating logos and branding, get Illustrator.
i refuse to admit that illustrator is the only effective way to design or brand. Im not getting into it ive been doing it for 10 years and will never move to illustrator.
I admit, I use Illustrator as a patch for Corel. I got an old version of Illustrator from eBay. I hate illustrator, though. Every time I try to learn to use a new tool, I get a headache. The manual was written by aliens. (okay, probably by engineers who never did anything artistic in their lives)
I make the images entirely in Corel, then save a copy as ai, open it in illustrator, correct any colors that have changed, and save as eps from there. Illustrator saves as eps better than Corel does.
If I had to use Illustrator only, I would stop making vectors.
Well said. your work is great too Darla.
Thanks! :)
I export with this setting:
http://stocklogos.com/topic/how-export-eps-and-png-corel-draw
and have no problems with gradients.
BTW, one more question for Corel experts:
Is there a way to use transparencies and still be able to export to .eps as vector?
Please help!!
Fake them. There are too many possible problems with transparencies in all programs. You can fake transparency with color and gradient. Like this http://stocklogos.com/logo/tri-neutronic
Yep, always fake transparencies. If the client gets a logo with real transparencies (unless they specifically request it) they'll have problems with it across many different applications and on different background colors.
OK, but I never get the same effect with gradient that I get with transparencies, here is an example:

How to get the merge on the left image with gradients?
I hope I'm being clear!?
This would work with a radial gradient on the A. You just have to tinker with it. You may have to turn up the edge pad.
Nope, still can't do it. :(
Never mind, thank's for the help anyway! :)
Hey,
export the file as PDF file, then open it in Illustrator and save it as EPS or AI.
I use the CorelDraw X5 and Illustrator CS5, and it works just fine, and I guess it doesn't matter if it's an older version for both Corel or Illustrator!
I can't imagine anyone without Illustrator having a serious or long lasting graphic design career.
