I love Bill Watterson's work, both for his skill as an cartoonist and for his ability to inject metaphors into his storytelling. Although Bill did work hard and earned his achievements, to simply quit you job and and pursue what you believe to be your life long passion is impractical for most people (heck, otherwise I'd be pro-snowboarder right now), However, I do believe he's making 2 worthy points here. 1. Don't give up on your dreams, and (more importantly) 2. find/do something in life that makes you happy, no matter what it is, be it your job, hobby, son, daughter, volunteer - it's important to allow yourself this joy.
