After looking at this more closely the characters do seem to be portraying more "party" than "togetherness"!
Think the brain image works though..

This is quite faithful to the brief, but perhaps shows up deficits in the brief, which on reflection was too directive perhaps. I agree the people are a bit too "jolly" in this picture. The green/brown combination is I think not "professional" enough looking. Perhaps the overall gestalt could be simplified as well?
