Target Audience

This logo project is for a new company that plans to sell sprinkler systems to commercial clients. So the target audience is serious business people responsible for building safety. So the logo probably shouldn't be too playful.

Your Objectives

To present my client several options of a professional looking logo that uses or is compatible with the company's corporate colors (black #000000 and red #cc0000) and looks good whether it is very small on a business card, embroidered on a shirt or hat or used as a vehicle graphic.

Please note: The client submitted a sketch of one of the concepts he would like to see. It is on the first page of the attached pdf. The idea is to make the Q in RSQ a sprinkler head. I don't particularly care for the idea, but maybe you can pull it off in a way that doesn't look stupid. :) I hope so. If you don't have creative juices for that concept, no worries. We would like to submit other concepts anyway. And you could use a sprinkler representation in another fashion in the logo; i.e. not a letter made of a sprinkler head. In the PDF i have also included some pictures of typical sprinkler heads. And of course, you could use Google images to find many more examples.

Lastly, we would prefer that the logo is longer than it is tall. Like a 3 to 1 ratio. For example, 240px long by 80px tall. These are general guidelines. If it is 4 to 1 or 2.5 to 1, that's fine. But wider than it is tall is the preference.

In Summary:

Professional and serious
Compatible with the company's corporate colors (black #000000 and red #cc0000)
Looks good large or small
At least 2x wider than it is tall
Incorporate a sprinkler head in one of your concepts if you can.

Right idea. But I don't care for the font selection. And perhaps if the sprinkler was rotated CCW by 15 degrees it might look more like a 'Q' Also, fire protection could be larger.

It varies significantly! I've known it to take over a day before now sometimes even longer, but to be honest that is not very often. I suspect they have to verify each logo as being unique and not a direct copy of someone else's work. Ask them directly, they're always helpful and very approachable.

Derren, I like it. I wonder if you could make a concept with the Q as a sprinkler head. I want to present the client with at least 2 concepts and at least one of them needs to be a concept that has the Q as a sprinkler head.

Also, on this current logo, what is the thought behind the sliver in the Q?

Hello everyone. Thank you for your logo submissions. This morning I sent a screen capture with all of the concepts posted to date to my client for feedback. Unfortunately they didn't like any of them as much as they liked their own sketch that is in the PDF i attached with the project. They have apparently decided to have the person who made that sketch refine it and create the vector file for it. :( So this project is on hold, if not dead. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't want to waste any more of your time. Please accept my apology and please don't put anymore time into this project for now. Than you again for all of your efforts.

And I appreciate your efforts and everyone else's. I was bummed that my client did that and surprised. And I feel kind of bad. I guess this is a decent concept (StockLogos.com) since it gives people real world experience. It is difficult to become good at designing logos without real stuff to work on. So I guess if you do not get picked, at least you gain experience and get real world feedback on your designs. So, not a complete waste... i trust. I am also bummed because it is my first project here and now I am "the guy who ended the project with no winner." :( I hope I haven't lost everyone's trust and can count on participation next time i use this service.
