Richard Bellia & Associates - Event Production Company

Now the fun starts..... I am trying to get a logo that is elegant yet creative, it needs to appeal to the VIP/Celebrity clients for the entertainment aspect of events yet look professional and serious enough for the government/corporate clients.

Rich,

May I call you Rich, or do you prefer Richard? Do you have any color preference? Also, and this is very important, symbols have deep cultural meaning. Are there any symbols such as animals, plants, people, or geometric shapes like stars that might convey the wrong message? Also (I know, I'm drilling you with questions) have you thought about a simple word mark without an icon attached? Unless an icon can be developed that really captures the full breadth and scope of your company's mission, sometimes a word mark is best. Famous word mark logo examples would be Sony, Ford, Disney, Target (without their target icon which they often omit). Law firms often use word marks especially if they offer a wide variety of services under one roof.

Hi Melder, Rich is no problem at all..... (thanks for asking)

Symbols.. most symbols are fine although it's generally a good idea to stay away from crosses due to the religious connotations id the cross in the middle east... better to be safe than sorry !!

As for colours, the issue I have is trying to be objective rather than subjective with them, as an example, I personally love red, but it can come across as "angry" so I'm really open to options here, I think black and white can look really crisp, clean and professional , some people think it's boring and that being in events it should be colourful to reflect creativity.... so maybe black and white with a single solid colour somewhere as a "highlight"... but honestly I'm open to pretty much anything that works.... not sure if I'm being much help here....

As for the Icon, I tend to agree, the word mark is probably the way to go as over the years people have grown to know me as opposed to the brand and wanted me on board, I really struggled to sell the services behind the brand if I wasn't there hence this new approach.... and as you said, we offer such a variety of services I guess it would be very difficult to capture it in one icon....

Hope this helps and feel free to fire as many questions as you like....

Thanks

Rich

The observation about the none use of crucifixes is well made. I remember reading an article about a logo design that was rejected over where you are, not because the logo had a crucifix in it, but because the negative space between to letter forms formed a crucifix! Something keep in mind.

Rich,

After Admin publishes it, you can view my stab at this at:

I decided to split the difference on the icon/wordmark issue and went with a monogram of polished gold plate on a slate gray-blue field. The typeface is black. I think it has a feel of professional experience in high-value event management without pointing in any particular direction. After you see it, I welcome your feedback.

Hi Richard, I noticed a Richard Bellia logo has been purchased - so I just wanted to make sure if the brief was closed as I did have a good idea for your logo. GujiGuru

Hi, I haven't purchased a logo yet so definitely not closed.....

This brief is CLOSED?

I can see - in a sold logo section - a sold logo for RB...

Why admin reaction is so slow in a situation like this ?!

There should be an automatic brief closing after purchase.

I agree. What is going on? This is frustrating.

Hi, Sorry, not sure who you sold the logo to, but it wasn't me so the brief is till open....

Thanks, client needs it open still. He wasn't the one buying.

The brief is now closed and the client was invited to make a selection.
