Ocean Annie's

UPDATE ON OBJECTIVES:

Many great logos have been submitted and I think it has helped us narrow down our vision a bit more on what we are looking for. So here is the refined objectives list:

1. Seahorse shape working into the logo somehow with store name "Ocean Annie's"
2. Classy mermaid worked into the logo somehow with the name "Ocean Annie's"
3. THe words "Ocean Annie's" that works with some sort of beach theme, whether that is colors, a starfish, seahorse, shell, waves, etc.

Colors that were leaning towards now are blues, greens, earth tones and some pink shades.

I dont know if this update helps or not. We are very impressed with what we see so far. .

Thank you for your submission. The logo is a little too playful for the overall feel that I am going for.

Thanks...I intend to choose a logo once the brief is closed, so stay tuned and thanks again for your submission.

I like the concept a lot. I would probably want to choose a different color for the middle icon other than yellow. Thanks for the submission!

Estrnboarder's picture

I do like it better than the yellow, but let me think on it a bit more.

Thanks Nancy! I really like the seahorse, but I am not 100% sold on the font. I think the "A" is a bit too fancy for me..my eyes tend to focus more on that one letter than the logo as a whole.

Hey Clare....thanks for the submission! I like the font choice a lot and I like the positioning of the seahorse. My concern is that the seahorse shape has too much going on with the pattern. The head/nose area also kind of looks like a hummingbird to me. I wonder if making the nose portion a little less pointy would make a difference? Thanks for being open to the feedback!

Hi Stuart

Great to hear from you. I've simplified the pattern and made the seahorse look a bit more seahorsey and less like a hummingbird ;) (I think the position of the pattern was contributing to that too, now I look at it again!). Here's the preview:

Would love to hear whether or not you think it's an improvement.

Re the feedback, I do think you're much more likely to get a better quality result if you're prepared to interact as you are doing. It means that more of the great designers on this site will be prepared to get involved too (more competition for the rest of us, but never mind...). And maybe if other clients have a look at your brief they'll realise that what you're doing is really productive, so it's great all round!

Cheers

Clare

Thanks for the change! The more subtle pattern works a lot better and the changes to the seahorse are great! Thanks for the flexibility!

I wanted to just post an update and say thanks! The logos that are coming in are amazing and the best part is they all have a great individuality about them. It is going to be very tough to choose just one. Keep em coming!

Clare...I think Iike this version a lot better. I think the subtle gradient in the seahorse is very nice. My only concern is what it would look like on a white background rather than the colored one. You are making my decision on this brief very hard.!

Thanks...Stu

Hi
I have uploaded two proposals for your brief.
They will be up in 24hours or so.

01] stained glass seahorse
02] logo with full treatment background - logo can be used as stand-alone and given some colour.

Regards,
simonmyers

Thanks..I will anxiously wait for the logos to be uploaded.

I have been out of town, so I am just getting a chance to see your logos. I like the idea of the stained glass seahorse. I also really like the circle behind the seahorse that looks like bubbles. After looking at it for a while I almost think it might look cool to take that element and use it as the "O" in Ocean. Just a thought. Thanks!

Thanks for the logo submissions. I am leaning more towards the seahorse logo you posted, however the font is throwing me off. I would probably prefer a font that was all caps or something that had a little more fluidity to it. Good job! Thanks...Stuart

I wanted to give a brief update again on some general thoughts from us. We are really excited about the number of submissions we have gotten so far. There are some really great options and the flexibility of some of you all to make quick changes for us has been amazing. With that said....we want to make sure that all submissions to our brief contain original artwork and ideas. There have been a few that seem to utilize elements that mirror very recognizable shapes/silhouettes...and that is not something we will even consider purchasing. I am very keen on getting something for our shop that is 100% original. I hope you all will keep submitting work throughout the rest of this brief and interacting with us as we give feedback. There are some excellent designers on here and it has been super fun to see the new ideas...but it has also been super hard to pick a favorite (ha ha). Thanks again and I can't wait to see more!

Hello,
I have had a further idea on your brief.
The style is similar to an old painted boat name.
One option with a flaking paint texture and one without.
The colour and/or the image, could be changed out if it seems too cartoon like - I have a few other images in mind.

regards,
simonmyers

Hello,
Thanks for the new submission. I really like the cracked paint effect on the one version and the color is fine, but the mermaid image isnt really doing it for me. What other images do you have in mind? Thanks!

Stuart

Thanks HEAPS,
I have created a few options of different images with the same text
http://stocklogos.com/logo/oa01-0 and
http://stocklogos.com/logo/oa03

also show a few colour options too.

If you like to see one of the options larger and by itself - let me know and I will edit it as soon as.

WOW!...really love the cleverness behind the lifesaver ring with the "a" inside! I am assuming you meant it to be representative of the "O" and the "a"...would you be able to make that one a bit larger? Thanks!

Stuart

Hello and thanks for you submission. I really like the concept you went with, but I am not really fond of the font itself. It is a little too swirly...if that makes sense. Thanks!
