The Coffee Monkey

Brief Status

About Yourself
It has been decided that we are going to use the coffee Monkey for the name of our cafe. I know there already lots of designs for the coffee monkey. If you look at www.lisburnlife.com/cafe you will see my favourite coffee monkey logo. We would like somthing similar but a few with a banner format with and without background colours perhaps a lime green background with brown text or vise versa. I also like the colours in this logo, perhaps you could introduce another colour? We might like a change of money, maybe cheeky or stylish. Somewhere in the logo it needs to say serving good honest food
Target Audience
It may sound strange but everyone, It will serve nice home cooked food at affordable prices, Hot and cold food . It can be a local company but well branded
Your Objectives

I would like too see a few designs one without solid background colours and one
with a solid colour behind for the sinage at the front. with the option to incude this easlily on other items.

www.thecoffeemonkey.co.uk

Special Requirements
simplicity - No fancy font Clear - must be seen from across the road and instanly reconized Modern Possibly one image include. Website include which also need to be big clean must fit onto the front sinage well, perhaps all in one line. I don't want a logo that needs to go in the middle, left or right. However if the design is excellent this may change

Hello jonnyguk,

Since you seem to be open to ideas concerning the name of your establishment - and - since your link shows a stylized coffee mug logo you already like, may I to direct you to a design I already have posted and is open for sale:

http://stocklogos.com/node/3869

The typeface can be changed very easily to your requirements and set off to the side like you want in a banner format. For typeface, I'm thinking something more rounded and san serif with a more personal feel to it.

Just a thought. Take a look.

In the meantime, I'll give some consideration to other ideas.

Caio!

It'll be better if you change the brief according to what you said here, so new designers won't get confused by the old information.

There is already a Coffee Monkey brief with many great suggestions:
http://stocklogos.com/node/3649

Is there any relation between the two? Thank you!

victorvianatjd's picture

Is the same company before? i am confused. If you wish so, i can change my old suggestion to your exigences.

Phunkmonster's picture

This is a very confused brief! All logos now not relevant to the design, i.e.: the original Simply Delicious logos should be deleted.

All that is needed for any designer is clear and concise information that cuts out any talky jargon and unnecessary nonesense:

Company name
Business purpose
Desired coloured palette if appropriate
Example logos that inspire you (if necessary)

Short, sharp and simple. I don't need to read a life biography to get a feel for what a logo does and doesn't need, and this brief is fast becoming one ;)

I agree, this is no joke after all, since the designers put a lot of work and time, especially is they started from nothing (not reusing a discarded project, etc).
A pity for those who made the first logos.
And with the experience we aren't even sure the client will buy something...

molumen's picture

The risk of selling nothing is always present in the stock logo creation job. If you are seriously bothered by that, then do not post logos in briefs that, in your opinion, are 'risky'. As far as I remember, the client said from the very beginning that the name of the business can change, and in fact it did. I personally see no problem with that..

Phunkmonster's picture

Agreed, but time is money, and there seems to be a lot of unnecessary change of goal posts here. If anything, this is only likely to discourage would be designs being submitted. Everyone here I feel does understand the risk though of not having a logo chosen against the time taken to design it. The only reason why this is aloud to happen here is because there is no financial risk on behalf of the client other than the initial sign up cost. In the real world, a design agency or freelance designer can charge for such changes, and in light of this many clients quickly realize that messing around from pillar to post becomes very costly, very quickly. Clients have a luxury when choosing to use this service in my opinion. However, the choice of briefs for me on here is quite refreshing even if they don't get picked, and if a logo isn't used it can be recycled if required.
